A new video ad featuring actor Sam Elliott urging voters to “be a man and vote for a woman” was created by a former Republican anti-Trump group.
The Lincoln Project, a “pro-democracy” organization, produced the advertisement, which portrays Vice President Kamala Harris as the contender who possesses “more courage, more honor, and more guts” than the outgoing President Donald Trump.
Elliott exclaims, “What the hell are you waiting for?” in the advertisement. “Because if it’s the woman thing, it’s time to get over that.”
Elliott’s macho plea for Harris’s support highlights a recurring subject in campaign issues: gender.
Democratic-leaning women mobilized around the subject of abortion access even prior to President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race. With Harris emerging as the front-runner, Americans will get a second chance in ten years to choose the country’s first female president.
According to polls, the candidate’s follower base is divided along gender lines, with Trump leading among males and Harris leading among women. This trend is especially evident among young voters. Voting tends to be more female than male.
